You can convert NSString to NSData by using

NSString* str = @"mystring";
NSData* data = [str dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSMutableData *yourdata = [data mutableCopy];

You can do something like,

NSString *str = @"any string";

NSData *data = [str dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];

NSMutableData *mutableData = [data mutableCopy];;
