Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token

Question

I ran into a problem and I'm hoping a dev can help me out. I went into the dashboard of my wordpress site and then to widgets and noticed a problem. None of the drop downs or drag and drops work. I checked the console and found this error:

Not sure how to pursue this further. I've done all the turn off plugins and such to no avail. Any help would be appreciated fr this newb. Thanks.

This is because an updated plugin is causing issue with some other part of WP that uses some javascript library.

Solution is to go to wp-config.php

And add this line

define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false);

This will tell WP to stop concatenating scripts, so you get all the JS you need.

I know this is an old topic (2 months) but I post this here as it might help somebody else finding this post via searches:

I have had the same or very similar errors with Wordpress, also on php7. Both other versions, and the latest (4.8.3 as of writing).

The solution has been very easy: I have just cleared the browser's cached files. Not cookies, just the cached files. That has fixed the issue for me.

I am not sure if it's the same issue as mentioned here, but that is to check.
